It's always hard to let go of our kids- no matter what age they reach- and that extends to grandkids too!
I'm that way and would always have ALL my kids very near- if it was up to me!

My mom lives just across town, our town is very small, and she's my best friend. I don't know what I'd do without her. I'm sure she feels the same way. Since my dad passed we are even closer, I can't say enough good things about my mom. I'm sure your kids feel the same way about you!!!!
A fourth of a mile?? My son lives in Houston, which is about 1200 miles from here. You'll be okay.

My girls are both a boarding school - try letting them go when they are 13 - it rips you apart!!!!
The thing that saved me was new challenges. I conquered my fears and took up diving, blogging and have a new job and He-Who-Doesn't-Blog and I have taken up a long held love of photography which i post on the blog.!!! That saved me ....oh along with long phone calls - our phone bill is horrendous!!!!!!!
