A Big Difference…

There has been a difference in my sister’s attitude lately, which is great!  She’s gone from feeling desolate to feeling hopeful.  You can see it in her photo.  And no, she doesn’t mind the photos.  She says maybe her story will help someone else.  The look on her face in the first shot just grabbed my heart…We think she’s beginning to come around to the fact that it’s going to be a long battle and she needs to get on board...and the Zoloft has helped, as well.

She just had a birthday on Wednesday…76th.
For her special day, she wanted to eat burritos…so, I carried her to a little place she likes to order from, to take home.  I ordered four burritos with a small bag of chips and a small cup of salsa.  Two for her and two for me and my husband, Larry.  Hers were potato, egg, bacon and avocado.  Mine were potato, bacon, cheese, and egg…The man handed me the small bag with all that I had ordered.  He says, “that’ll be $48.65…😳😳😳 Then, after I picked my chin up off the floorboard…I said, “HOW MUCH???”
Long story short, I apologized for being rude, but the amount shocked me.  Then he also apologized for having gone up on his prices.  I gave my sister a stunned look, shifted the car into drive and, holding onto the bag of gold…off we went.
I’ve not been shocked like that in years.  Almost $50 for BURRITOS?
I’m still upset…Ruth Ann was bewildered.  Just a few weeks ago she’d ordered burritos and it was about $15…. for two, with salsa and chips.
Can you say recession?  And gouging??

Much better!

I made bread…

Our little SloaneyGirl turned 6months old on Wednesday, as well. 💗🎀💗

We enjoyed sweet potatoes for lunch…

This is a yummy recipe for tomato sauce!  We add cooked hamburger meat.

I made a cherry cobbler…

SO good served hot with cream!

Any takers?? Lolol

Big Hugs,
Donna 🌷

Oh, that last picture made me chuckle. I still want to learn to knit and crochet. I can see why you were so shocked when you had to pay $48 for burritos. They sound really good with the potatoes and eggs and bacon and avocado and cheese. Sloane is already 6 months! They do grow up fast. I've always loved sweet potatoes with lots of butter. And I haven't had cherry cobbler in a long time. Looks Yummy.

*I just noticed the little one on the side of your blog, "welcome to my blog." She is soooo cute. Looks like a wee fairy. : )

Wow, those burritos are expensive. Everything has gone up here too, some places don't even change their price menu because they are always changing and going up. Your sister is looking much better, I wish her the best. Have a great weekend.

I am literally rolling with your finished handiwork on the knittedsocks!! lollol
Sweet photos. And that precious baby!! Love her outfit too.

Ya, dining out is costly. Even "fast food". $18. for one cheeseburger and fries at five guys the other day.

Look at your beautiful sister! I glad she is accepting what she has to do! It's highway robbery on those burritos. I realize supplies have gone up but that's ridiculous! Love seeing pics of little Sloane, and all your delicious food! That last picture would be my idea of knitting slippers! XO

So many delicious treats! 4 burritos for 50 dollars? That's expensive! That little SloaneyGirl looks so adorable!

She looks much better! So good to see that.
That's a ridiculous cost for 4 burritos.
Cute little Sloane!

Your sister is so pretty. I'm glad she's trying to accept what needs to be done and I pray it works.

Sloane Avery is a living doll. <3

The cherry cobbler? Now I'm going to the kitchen and make peach cobbler.

The difference in the two photos is amazing. I’m so glad she’s in a better place.
Prices have been going up here as well. We have raging inflation, so the banks are raising home loans rates to try and
Combat it. Causing even more pain and misery to the average person.
Your little girl is absolutely adorable.

Oh how wonderful to see you sister smiling and bright eyed. It must take the stuffing out of all how are diagnosed, then after a while they fight back when they can, so good to see.
The photos are beautiful..

OMG. Over $40 for burritos? That's just insane. I have to wonder how long smaller businesses will be able to stay open when they have to charge prices like that.
Glad to hear that your sister is doing better. I good state of mind can go a long way.
Sloane is just absolutely adorable.

THE PRICE OF EVERYTHING IS HORRENDOUS! That was a lot of money for what you got.
The second picture of your sister was much better. Although I think I would be sad if that were me too.
Sloane is adorable especially with her little bows.
I have to say your cooking looks delicious. The sweet potato - the cherry cobbler - yummy. Does your sister live with you?

I feel your pain. The price of food is stunning here too. We've also had sticker shock at the restaurants.

So glad your sister is feeling brighter. I have been thinking of you all and hoping. $40 plus would have made my eyes go big. Haven't been to a proper restaurant for a while, maybe for my birthday, still thinking about it. I'll have to take a deep breath before I look at the menu prices, lol! Sloan is adorable, very sweet! Yummy food! Nothing like a loaf of fresh bread either. Thank you for the chuckle on the knitted socks. That just about speaks to me, I am not a knitter. Tried knitting a sweater for my husband in a class once, I must have been very stressed in parts and not so stressed in others. It looked like something you would fit on a dragon and gave everyone a good laugh.

Your sister is looking great. What a wonderful come-around. I hope the positivity continues. :)

Sloane is a little darling...such a beautiful bub.

Prices in every quarter are escalating here, too. It's hard to keep up!

Take care. :)

The price of almost everything keeps going up. Food is not optional and I really feel for families because with paying rent or mortgage and food there can't be an awful lot left.
Such great news that your sister is feeling more up-beat these days. She's fortunate to have you cheering her on.

Hope you're having a wonderful Sunday!

How nice your sister’s health improved.
The prices of everything is going up and up everyday it is incredible. Sloane is so cute! My Maxime is already 10 months old
And is changing a lot. Your cooking looks very good especially the cherry cake. I am also making some home made bread and home made yogurt.

I would still be in shock over the price of the burritos however any price would be worth getting Ruth Ann what she wanted. I am still getting over the price of a hamburger at our local cafe. On my way to and from the cafe I see hordes of cattle grazing and don't understand why beef is so expensive when it is plentiful. Also those are some socks I would be able to make.

Oh that bag of burritos!! Shocking prices will get me wide eyed every time. And those yarn socks made me laugh out loud! Do me a favor and give your sister a hug from me, from one of your blogging friends but tell her it is from all of us! She's gorgeous by the way, tell her that! That's as true as expensive burritos. xx

Well, the food made me hungry. Thanks....and that bread, I had to look twice, it looked like pudding when I first saw it. I am not a fan of cooking but I love to bake. I made a couple of blueberry cakes for an event the other night. But I love to bake bread. I usually make a rosemary bread.....yum. Nice blog.

Thanks for visiting my blog. I didn't realize I hadn't posted all year.
I sold my house and moved by my son and his family in Sept. so that took a lot of my time.
Losing my husband was the hardest thing ever. I'm trying to get back to sewing some.
Your grandbaby is so adorable!

I am so glad that your sister is doing better. Zoloft helps so much. I have had bouts of depression for years and since I've been on Z my life is so much better.
I know... I don't see how people are going to go on with prices like they are. It's ridiculous.
Your sweet potato is making me wish for one right now. I bet it was sweet and yummy.
Have a good week. Hugs.
