English Muffins and Ultrasounds...and Tony

Good Morning friends...It's time to check in with you.  It's been a busy few days here.  First of all, Larry (hubby) made English muffins!  He's so handy that way.  They are wonderful and not filled with all those harmful ingredients you can't even pronounce the names of...

He just follows the recipe and goes for it.  Buttered and toasted, spells, wonderful!

Here we are leaving Hubby's Ultrasound appointment.  Results were back within two days...yes, as the doctor thought, he has cholecystitis, in layman's terms, gall stones.  SO...our doctor wants to refer him to a surgeon...well...my response to that suggestion is an emphatic, no.
I know, in my heart, surgery will always be the last resort!  It should never be the first.  He's had only one bout with pain.  I've done a lot of research and feel he needs bile salts...which increases bile which breaks down gall stones which are made out of cholesterol...simplest explanation. We will try the natural way, First!  Also starting a Keto lifestyle...It's no longer considered a Diet when saving the gallbladder is in order.

Now who might this be??  Lolol, you knew our SloaneyGirl would be in my post, somewhere!

We left Waco and headed for Marlin, Texas, for a little Mexican fare.  I graduated nursing school at Torbett-Hutchensen hospital back in 1976 and couldn't remember what was at this location, if anything so...reading Linda's blog, I saw it was open for business...so we headed that way.  By the time we'd finished eating, I remembered I hadn't taken a photo of our food!lol...sorry, but we were hungry!

Then, we headed West onto hwy 7 heading to Green's sausage house.  We buy a lot of our meat there.

Back home in record time...time enough for me to head out to my sister's house to visit with our Candy!  Ruth Ann says, "Not for another week", so...we wait.  She recognizes me now and can't wait to play.  That's her sister at her elbow...a little black one. Also a little brother lounging in the background... I wish I could take them all home!

Afternoon early supper...chicken thighs.

We bought a new kitchen sink faucet at Lowes...here's Larry doing his Plumber Thing, installing it...so glad to have married a plumber!  Has saved us thousands of dollars...No Larry!  You can't have pie as payment!lol

Love the new design...$215.00 tax included at Lowes..Just think what the plumber would have cost, in addition!  I'm blessed and I know it.

And yes...I made Cinnamon rolls before we knew about Larry's ultrasound results.  But, he can still have one as a treat, occasionally.

They were pretty darn tasty!

Did you know, if you coated your bacon in flour, it absorbs grease and becomes crisper?  I tried it and we love it!  And yes, Larry can eat fatty meats...fat helps produce more bile!  Which is what you want.  What you don't want are foods high in carbs.

 Very Good and crunchy!

Well...that's about all for me today...Hope you all are happy and safe, which brings me to the saddest of all my news.

This man is Antonio Juan Martinez.  He has been with our company for over 35 years...One of the sweetest souls you'd ever want to meet.  He was our Warehouse Manager.  He had just turned 70 in January.  Looking forward to a happy retirement.  I remember the day I took this photo...he was always joking and laughing...just a sweet spirit...we loved him...part of the Staas family.
Tony and his wife Felipa, 59, were killed, Sunday night,  by Felipa's son, Matias Saucedo, 25...he stabbed them both to death over an argument about a window unit air conditioner Matias had taken and pawned...for drugs.
Tony and the son were arguing about it when the mother stepped in to try to stop the fight, when her son (previous marriage) stabbed them both...just because he wanted her dead , as well,  he told the police at the scene.
Tony died at the scene and Felipa later died at the hospital.
We are heartbroken...

Tell your family every chance you get, that you love them...without fail!

Sorry for the sad ending...Until next time...

Babies and Doctors...

Good morning, friends...
Hubby Larry went to his doctor's visit last Monday to find out about the pain he had experienced in his upper abdomen area while he was sick last week...coughing, upper respiratory.  His doctor thinks it was a gallbladder attack and has ordered an ultrasound.  He goes in on the 27th of this month.  We will know more then.
You take two steps forward then get knocked back, four...

Here's our Sloane (R) enjoying her parents new Australian Shepard puppies.  I think they were all promised to new homes after a day of offering them on their Facebook post.  They are cute.  New babies of all kinds are precious.

Our little Candy is almost ready to come home with me!  I've got everything ready for her.  She should be ready after the 31st.  Nothing like the smell of babies and new puppies!

Breakfast while blogging...

Exactly how I'm feeling...lol

Our Sloane making her grandmother, Lolli, happy by sending her a huge grin!

I've paid for the car behind me, in line, at a fast-food drive-thru during the holidays, but this makes SO much more sense!  And it's so true!  Can you imagine, as a child, standing in the lunch line and being told you can't eat because your lunch ticket has no money on it??  Happens more often than we know.

I took this photo several years back.  The Bluebonnets are out again right now and growing everywhere.  And it's also true that if you live or are passing through Texas and want to stop and take a photo...be careful of your step!  Snakes also love bluebonnets., great ground cover.

Just be safe...be aware of your surroundings at all times.

Lolli and Pops having a sweet moment with their SloaneyGirl...Note*the hand resting on Pop's arm...he was in Heaven!

Well, that's all for now...Hope your week is going smoothly and you are happy and well.
Until next time...

New Sofa...and a Sweet Weekend

Good morning, Friends!
Just a little (lolol) post about the happenings here in blogville.
My sister Ruth Ann (see earlier postings) is still doing well receiving her chemo treatments.  No sickness, thank God.  I believe she has nine more treatments to go before her check-up telling us if the cancer has been eradicated.  Still asking for prayer!
On to lighter blog fare...lol...even though this pan meal is anything but light.  But so easy to prepare and twice as easy to eat!

Flat Pan Chicken and Veggies

Place your chicken down the middle of the buttered dish...arrange vegetables of your choosing, along the sides of the chicken, like you see in my photo above.
I chose new potatoes, zucchini and green beans and onions.
Bake at 350 degrees F (176 C) for an hour, checking on it until you reach the right amount of color for you. (browning)

Lime cupcakes with strawberry frosting sprinkled with crystalized sugar.

I fried up some salmon patties for lunch along with a crunchy salad.

Did I tell you we're getting a new sofa and carpet?  The brown one in the photo was donated.  What a mess the room was and still is...Trying to find new door carpets that match the grey sofa and carpeting.

Larry being his usual smarty pants self while I'm trying to take pictures of things to show you...He has his earphones in trying to ignore what I'm doing.  And Libby (pug) isn't amused! lol

Sorry about Sleeping Beauty but here's the sofa and carpet.  It'll take forever to redecorate the room!

We Love the two-sided remotes for the sofa!  The key feature for us is the lumbar button!  We both needed that feature...nice!

Also having a new electrical outlet installed.  The company we used started the job on Thursday morning.  The office got my work order wrong.  They said I ordered an outlet to be CHECKED on... I said I ordered a NEW outlet!  So much time wasted!  Poor service tech was running back and forth to his shop and our house and still isn't finished!  Coming back Monday...sigh

BUT!  On a happier note, our daughter Crystal came up from Magnolia Tx to babysit our sweet Sloane.  Being 2 1/2 hours away from their first grandchild is no fun!  We all hate it but they both have great jobs and can't pull up stakes to move back to Waco...so they travel back and forth...it is what it is, I suppose.  We all miss them terribly.

Larry and I ate breakfast out on Thursday...biscuits and sausage gravy!  Delicious.

Well, that about wraps things up for me.  I hope you're enjoying a sweet and peaceful weekend.  Until next time,

You, My Friends...

Good morning, friends...Have I told you how grateful I am to have found you all?  Your kind words...prayers that you pray for a virtual friend?  Your advice about everyday living?  Ideas to help make my life a little easier.  How you allow me to try to be helpful when I read your post and you've had a hard time or you're just sad?
I just want to say Thank you!  You brighten my otherwise sad world, at times, with so many smiles!
I call you, my friend. <3

And then ...there's the few in my life that I'd love to...lolol

I'm sure there are people that have or would do something this awful to someone else who they feel has "wronged" them...I never in a million years, could!

Lolol...too funny and Too True!

Potato soup fully loaded.

Our Sloane is preparing her outfit for Easter...

My Larry has been sick for a week now...Started out with stomach pain...gassy (flatulence), then congestion...fever...fatigue.  He's just now feeling better (I treated the symptoms because he refused to go to urgent care!!!)  Thank God it worked because he really had me worried for a hot minute while watching his breathing!  I was worried about pneumonia.  I told him if he wasn't better by the morning, and he was still refusing to go to the doctor, I would call for an ambulance!  He was better by morning...and is now 98% his old self.  In fact, he has his annual Labs this morning and if there's a high white cell count, it should show up.

Tuff looking at his offspring...Candy.

Our little Candy is getting bigger!  I'll bring her home in two more weeks.  I also purchased Pet Insurance from Nationwide.  If it is a good deal, I'll put my older pups on the coverage, as well.
Well...guess that's about it for me this week.  Hope your worlds are safe and peaceful...until next time...

Illness, Cake and Candy...

Good morning!  Not a whole lot to report here...Ruth Ann (my sister with colon cancer) will be heading into her third chemo treatment on Monday.  She's not experiencing illness yet.  Hopefully, she won't...time is just barely crawling by for me lately...
Our sweet Sloane was sick Thursday and couldn't attend daycare, so I got to keep her.  I got her temp down and the rest of the day for her was spent drinking her bottle and napping.  You know I wanted her to feel better, but it was wonderful holding her while she slept...She is feeling better today.
I've been trying to lose some weight (20lbs) for over a month!  I'll lose a few pounds then gain half of it back!!  Then, Larry wants something sweet made... (he can lose weight just by rolling over in bed...)  and of course, I have to taste test!  Vicious circle.  I'm also not walking enough...How do you stay in shape?
Hope you are enjoying a happy and peaceful weekend!

Sloane...

SO TRUE!!

BECAUSE OF THIS...lol
Texas Sheet Cake that I made yesterday.

I have some plants I need to put outside but sure enough...if I do, we will get slammed again with cold weather.  There's always one last cold snap here before Easter.

Larry and I have agreed on the name Candy for our newest member of the family.  I did like Lucy and Lemon...who knows, maybe I'll change it to Lemon before she finally arrives?!  I'm awful with naming our furrbabies!

Our sick Sloane (greatgrandaughter) 6 months old now.

AND yes, I made Cherry Ice Cream...bad Donna!
I ONLY had one spoonful...ok, maybe two...lolol

Can you believe some of these???  I feel so old!  I'll be 72 in August...and I remember all, except Pearl Harbor.  My Dad was there...and I remember his stories.  And maybe not the beginnings of the Corvette...but I got to ride in one with my old boyfriend...a 1964 model...blue.  They rode hard!  I wouldn't have one...but back then, we had fun.
Okay, I'll quit rambling...
Have a great weekend!
