A Press...Muscles, Loins and a Thief.

Good morning, friends...
Sorry I'm late to the party but have been a tiny bit busy.
Read on...

This is called a heat press.  It's weight, in the box, is approximately 55 pounds.  My husband has always been a very active guy.  So... he decided he could carry this heavy box from the street, into the house and around to the back playroom...without a dolly.  He is now 76.

Here's my husband, Larry, today.  He ended up in the hospital because of bladder complications...
He couldn't urinate...He was fine one minute and several hours later, he couldn't "go".  He had lifted the heat press two days prior.
It was his birthday (on the 14th) ...Tim and daughter Crystal,  came to help him celebrate.  They leave and that's when he decided to tell me.  Needless to say, I got him to the hospital fast.  Long story short... IF he hadn't lifted that 55 pound box...he would have probably died of bladder cancer...it pulled something in his bladder...most likely a growth and it blocked him...with a blood clot....yes, that's what they found when they ran test.  The Urologist said if left, it would not be a pleasant thing. . . He got all the growths cleaned out and said he was almost positive the growths weren't the really aggressive type of cancer.  Treatable...Six weeks of chemo bladder washes...one per week.  But we'll still wait on the biopsy results, due back in about a week.  This type of cancer is silent and sneaky...no pain...Ask your doctors to do urine test yearly!

My sister's (Ruth Ann) re-attachment surgery also took place on Friday the 13th...Larry's problem happened on Saturday, the 14th....his birthday...they are now in rooms 1507 and 1509.  I'm a crazy woman...There's really only me to help both of them...My beautiful daughter came to be with me yesterday while Larry's procedures were done...did I say what a Godsend she is?   Larry's side of the family is...well...just not there...I want to say useless but that might be unkind so I won't say that.  Crys has to leave today though.  Which is fine, I've got this.  I'm bringing Larry home this morning...My sister won't be leaving for another few days so I can run up and still watch over her.
I'm a crazy woman...but me and God's got this...seriously.  There's no other option.
I've girded my loins...I'm good...

Daughter Crystal and our sweet peach, Sloane.

At the birthday visit, before all the other happened...everyone had a sweet time.  Pops and
Sloaneygirl having fun in her pool.  She's not happy he's stolen her blankie...sun hat...baby and blankie! lol

Sloane...our heart...

                                                                         Lol...right!

In other news...I bought this little puppy.  I want to learn embroidery done on machines.  This machine is a Baby Lock Aurora.  It sews and embroiders.

I love anything Sherlock Holmes.  I just threw this one in the donate bag...As well as I could ascertain, it's about a female relative of Sherlocks.  Terribly confusing... I was either too tired to figure it all out or...it's just not my cuppa tea.

Larry made chicken, shrimp and sausage gumbo last Wednesday...Extremely good!!  We packaged about twelve, pint bags, and froze them.

I guess this was last Tuesday...Breakfast out...

Well, this crazy woman needs to get this posted and do some chores.
Thanks for reading this far!  See you next time...and...

Well, if ever cancer could be said to have a benefit....this is it. So glad it was found and could be treated. Blessings even in adversity. Make sure you look after yourself, Donna.

Oh goodness! You certainly have a LOT going on! I'm so glad that they found the health issue, although I'm sorry that it happened at all. Poor guy. Poor YOU! Hey...at least the two patients are near each other in the same hospital. But..that is also double the worrying. Prayers that you get good news on both patients and you can go and enjoy that new sewing/embroidery machine and the heat press.

You have certainly had a lot going on in your life. I’m sorry to hear about your husband’s diagnosis. I suppose it was a good thing that he lifted that heat press. Your new sewing/embroidery machine looks fantastic! I have always wanted to embroider by machine. I hope you will share your experiences with us in the future.

Oh my, you sure do have a lot going on there. What a lucky accident for Larry. I'm glad they found that and can take care of it. That just proves that buying new craft items can be a good thing. I have an easy press and I need to use it more often.
I have an embroidery machine but it unfortunately stopped working.
Have fun with both your new toys.

I'm sorry about your husband's bladder complications but it seems like the cancer might not have been discovered if he hadn't gone and strained muscles carrying that heavy box. I hope he'll be okay. He does look remarkably cheerful in the hospital bed.
I hope your sister will also be okay. All this happening in such a short time must be overwhelming.
The new sewing machine that can do embroidery sounds like lots of fun projects coming up.
Blessings, GM

Well at least Larry and Ruth Ann were only one door apart! It could have been separate floors and that would have pushed you right over the edge. I am a diehard Sherlock Holmes fan and only the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle will do it for me. No offshoots, no relatives ... just Holmes, Watson, Moriarty ... haahaha ... I am aghast at Larry's situation but it sounds as though the doctors and the Lord have it well in hand. Prayers going up for him and for you. xoxo

Things happen for a reason so it's said and how lucky for your husband 'things' were dicovered after lifting.
So your sister is doing ok I presume and my, you have been busy.

Oh my goodness, Donna, what a thing to have happened. How fortunate, though, that they caught this in time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the biopsy results, but I've got a feeling that all will be well. Sending a double dose of hugs! xxx

Oh no, poor Larry and poor you!!! Thankful that you got him into the hospital fast and a lesson for us all. And now I’m reading Ruth Ann is in hospital also? Crys sounds like one of those earth angels I keep reading about. Sweet photos of Sloane and your family, she is a little darling. Enjoy your new sewing machine. I am a fan of Sherlock Holmes but just Sherlock. All the food looks delicious. Thanks for the funny and thank you for this post. I hope Larry and Ruth Ann each have a speedy recovery, and you take good care of yourself too. The angel caregivers have a heavy and demanding load on their shoulders, and it can take its toll. Sending up a prayer for you all.

Oh my goodness Donna! You life reads like a novel! How could so much be packed into a few days. I'm so glad Larry was able to get to the hospital and hopefully will have a full and complete recovery.

Love the pictures and your wonderful attitude is a blessing to all of us.

Sending prayers for Larry and your sister.

Now I'm in the mood for pancakes!!

Love you new "machine" You are going to have so much fun creating lots of goodies.

Oh my! I'm glad Larry is ok and they found it early! I had low grade Papillary Urothelial carcinoma back in 2008. I had blood in my urine which was what caused me to go to have it checked out. They caught it early enough to just have surgery to remove it all but no chemo thankfully. I will keep you all in my prayers. I have a feeling someone is going to be making a lot of embroidered things for her sweet little great granddaughter!

Oh my - you really do have your plate full to overflowing! Praying that you have the strength to do it all...and especially that Larry will respond well to his treatments and be fully recovered quickly. Now...just one question. What in the world is a heat press?? Thanks for taking the time to blog -
