Sliders...Burritos, Bacon and Eyes.

Good morning, Friends.
What a week...My daughter, Crystal had surgery on her left eye last Monday and will be having the second surgery (cataract) on January 22.  I also will be having cataract surgery on my right eye on January 22nd. lol...we didn't plan it this way but as she said, "Cool Mom!  We'll both be having bionic eye surgeries on the same day!"  She lives close to Houston and I'm close to Waco, Texas.
If you've had cataract surgery before, this next part may be boring...just keep scrolling.
The testing...forms...measurements...medications...web sites to create...took me almost all day to complete yesterday!  I was rattled by bedtime!  Didn't sleep well.  The actual surgery will be done at a surgical clinic, not a hospital.  They give you meds to sleep...procedure takes about 10 minutes then you need time to wake up.  About an hour and a half, all total.  No eye patches...you just get up and go home.  Sounds good to me!  The hardest part of it all is taking all the eyedrops.  Then, the next day, you go back into the office for them to look at the eye. After we left the clinic, I looked into the black bag they give to cataract patients...all that was in it were the glasses... :o)  No plastic patches...tapes...just the glasses.  Yeah!

The amount of time we waited was 2 1/2 hours...!!  Beginning to end.  So glad to get out of there...

One day, I made some hamburger and cheddar sliders...turned out good!

Another day, we ate breakfast out at a place called The Toasted Yolk in downtown Waco.  It was good...they served you more than you could eat at one sitting but there again...pricy.
Notice they spelled Avocado wrong...Lolol...yep, only me!
And coffee?  $3.69??   Each...smh   (shaking my head)

Larry's Burrito plate...

I thought I ordered just one of these things...but two showed up!  They're called a "Southern Fried Arnold".... Had to get a doggy-bag to take home.

Coffee was pretty good...but it's not Larry's.  He roasts our coffee beans here at home...and the coffee is so smooth!

When microwaving bacon on a plate, pull the middles up...that makes for a no mess clean-up later on!  Grease doesn't drip off the sides of the plate.

Tim, our SIL and Sloane's "Pops", showing her the ropes of dirt biking! lol
He said she loved it... Taken pre-Christmas time while it was still in the 80's.

Larry made this cross on his laser...I love it.  Think I'm going to stain it.
Well...guess that's going to be it for me.  Hope you all are doing well and staying warm/cool wherever you are.

So, until next time...

I love the cross too!
My Bob has the beginnings of a cataract so he will be having that surgery at some time.
The restaurant has a great name - but is pricey!
That really does look like an ostrich!

I love that cross! For a second I thought it was the base for the lamp! It's ridiculous what they charge for coffee in restaurants, and most of the time I make it better at home! That ostrich on the board is hilarious! Hope your surgery goes well! XO

Oh my, that cross is jaw dropping...Amazing!!!
My hubby has had the surgery too..both eyes the same time. He's so happy it is finished. Yes, the eyedrops are a pain but that isn't really bad.
I always feel Sticker Shock when ordering coffee at a restaurant.. crazy what they charge.
Love the ostrich picture..cute

Wow, that cross Larry made is absolutely fantastic!
Your breakfast at The Toasted Yolk is looking very yummy, but pricey indeed.
I had a good laugh at the ostrich joke, and thank you for the tip on microwaving bacon!
Keeping my fingers crossed for your eye surgery! xxx

I had cataract surgery on both eyes but here we don’t sleep only eye drops and they tie your head!
I don’t like it! And the eye drops three times a day…
Love your breakfast look so good!
The cross is beautiful ! Congratulations to Larry!

Lots of fun tidbits. I'm stunned you and your daughter are having cataract surgery on the same day. What are the odds? I've had it and while the idea of anything being done on the eyes is a stomach churner, it's a slam bam. Thinking good thoughts for both of you.
Hugs

This seems to be the month of cataract surgeries. My sister-in-law is having one around about the same time. I read with interest as I am booking an eye check-up soon, so thank you for the info. Your sliders look delicious! I haven’t been out for breakfast in a very long time, and I expect I will get sticker shock when I do. Thanks for the bacon tip. Ostrich? Too cute as was the baby boomers. Back in my day…. Great photo of Sloane and her Pops. Larry’s woodwork is incredible and he is so talented! Have a great week Donna and sending hugs.

The Cross Larry made is wonderful. He has such a talent with wood. I LOVE that picture of Sloan on the dirt bike. Jess' Brian has a dirt bike also, and won't be giving it up anytime soon haha. I hope you and your daughter's eye surgeries are turn out well. Saying a prayer for both of you. Those hamburger and cheese buns look pretty good. I've never heard of that before. Your breakfast' look amazing, especially that burrito.

Have a blessed weekend, Donna.

Yes, all of us that have had cateract surgery know how quickly the surgery is done, and how many weeks it takes for the drops!! But I must say, worth it for me. I wore glasses since 8th grade and now no more classes!!

My dearest has one more eye that need to be done. We have an appointment in March.

All the food looks delicious and Larry's cross, amazing!

Take care!!

The cross with the Lord's Prayer is amazing!!
Your breakfast was expensive but at least the portions were very ample.
I've had cataract surgery on both eyes but unlike the experience of many others, I didn't notice much difference in my eyesight afterwards.
I like that rare footage of the baby boomers on the way to school. Too funny.

Everyone I know that's had cataract surgery said it was an easy one.
All that food is making me hungry. I'm curious though. What exactly is a Southern Fried Arnold?
That cross that Larry Made is amazing. I'm always fascinated by what those lasers can do.

Glad that surgery is behind you. Over and done with....here's to complete healing! I really enjoy eating breakfast out (well, I really enjoy eating breakfast period!) but why in the world are coffee and eggs so expensive? And, like you, I really enjoy coffee here at home:) Hope you have a great week ahead. Surely the temps will be in the 80s again before we know it!!:)

Donna - your breakfast looks delicious. Will be praying your eye surgery goes well and the waiting won't be long. Pretty cool about you and your daughter both being scheduled the same day. Sloane is a darling and I am sure your sil doesn't mind sharing his bike seat with her. Love Larry's laser work of art. Hope you will show it once it is stained. Well take care - we are very cold here...perhaps you can send us some warm weather :)!! Hugs

Hi Donna, I love your blog and I would have never found it had you not visited mine first, thank you for that. Your ostrich joke made me laugh so hard I started to choke, LOL. I haven't been following long enough to know if Larry is a son or your husband, but that cross is absolutely beautiful. I know you will treasure it forever.
God bless you,
Connie

We went out for dinner at our local Italian restaurant for my bday. $35. Cheaper than we could have gotten breakfast at our usual haunt.
