Bread...Soup and a Plan

Happy February
Things have been a bit quieter here lately.  We saw the colon surgeon Monday.  He has advised us that he doesn't want to do surgery on Ruth Ann...at present, on the tumor that was left behind on the ureter (carries urine from the kidneys to the bladder).
The urethra (carries urine away from the bladder and sends it to be expelled from the body).  I know, probably too much information but, we need to know how our bodies function.
All this information went straight over Ruth Ann's head...all she wanted to know was how much longer she'd have to wear the colostomy bag...give me strength...
(at least 6-8 months IF all goes as planned)
But!  She showed up to the appointment (Laura drove her) without her buggy!  Walked all on her own!  Hey!  That's a big deal around these parts!Lol
And...she had a sweet demeanor!  Of course, she started on Zoloft Saturday...Hey, I'll take anything that helps her depression.
So, we are waiting for a callback from the cancer specialist to set a date to have her port "installed".  Upper chest area.
Will let you know.

A roast I made in my Instant Pot...Wonderfully tender!  Ninety minutes under pressure...fantastic!

Sam and Sloane...love them SO much!

Loaded Potato Soup....it was Heaven!

I call this Blow Out Bread...lolol...I think I accidentally added too much yeast...I lost count...but it was yummy!  A sweet breakfast bread with added walnuts and crasins.

Laura, next to me and sister, Ruth Ann.  They didn't care if I posted them on my blog.  Laura is such a huge factor in our lives!  Remember?  She's Ruth Ann's Ex-husband's Wife...lol...and she's amazing.  An LVN like me, so we "get it" when the doctors talk to Ruth Ann about her condition, treatments, etc.
It's a waiting game now...the long journey is about to begin.

Sautéed onions I added to the bread below.  I added the onion too soon (at the beginning of machine kneading) instead of waiting until the second rise) because they disintegrated, but it was great, anyway.

Here is a toy box Larry (my husband) made for our SloaneyGirl!  Turned out precious!

And lastly...The Rep was most understanding!Lol

Until next time,
Hugs
Donna

Thanks for checking out my blog and leaving comments.

I used to make bread a lot. Now, not so much since it's just me and I'm trying not to eat too many carbs and my homemade bread is so good I'd over-indulge. Your pics are inspiring though, and since I'm stuck in the house today and probably tomorrow due to super-cold/icy conditions I might just do something in the kitchen even though I'd rather be working on photos on the computer.

Your GreatGran is adorable and the toy box is definitely a keeper.

Have a great day. Linda (theimagesisee)

Your post has really grabbed me today from beginning to end. My sister is struggling with something similar to your sister Ruth Ann and I hope all will be well for both of them. The food photos have made me leave the computer now to go search my kitchen for snacks. Wow, am I hungry now.

I hope all goes well with Ruth Ann's treatment. So stressful for you all. Sweet family photos and so impressed with your husband's toy box, a family treasure for sure! The food photos are great, you are a great chef!

A little bit of good sprinkled in the mess of Ruth Ann's treatment and her "attitude." But...it's good that she is on meds for her depression. What a battle! You all are so good to her.

The food looks AMAZING! As always. :)

Good news that your sister is doing a bit better and maybe the Zoloft is helping.
Your soup looks delicious so I'm planning on soup and bread for supper. I have a loaf of Dill bread that I made last week ( it made 2 loaves so I froze one). A great meal for a winter day.
My DH made toy boxes for our first grands. They looked very much like the one your husband made.

Cancer is a formidable enemy. I know from experience. I am glad she seems better and if I had that I would take Zoloft too.
I see two refrigerators in your kitchen.
Say the bread you make looks good. I had a bread machine - one thing I let go in downsizing.
I don't have an instant pot either, but that roast looked so good.
You eat well. ☺
I love potato soup. Is the recipe hard?
I pray for Ruth.
One of my friends is having her kidney and urethra taken out in April.
Thank God for God.

Glad to hear your sister had some positive moves.
All the food is making me hungry. That blow out bread of yours looks like it would be perfect for filling with some dip.

OK girl! All those food pictures made me hungry, and I just finished breakfast! Sloane gets more and more adorable! That toy box with the signature will be a treasure for her for the rest of her life! Did Larry write that signature? If so he sure has nice handwriting! I hope all goes well for your sister! Seems the Zoloft is helping a lot! XO

Your poor sister is going through so much right now, and it's normal to be depressed, confused, and deeply upset. You have been by her side through all of this, and you are going through a lot too. I hope she gets the right treatment and care during all of this. Your roast meal looks amazing, and the bread looks wonderful. I think I could eat bread and butter alone for dinner. The raisins and walnuts really add something. That toy box your husband made for Sloane is fantastic! What a treasure that will be for her through the years. And this is such a cute picture of Samantha and Sloane.

Have a restful weekend, Donna.

I'm sorry not to be here before now. I get it now about your sister, and pray that everything will go better now. Hey we know all about the "bag", Patti had one for six months and her colon was removed. Your sister and my daughter are troopers!

Baby so cute, food looks delish! You always amaze me with your cooking.

Love to all.
