Good morning, Friends...
It's been a crazy week. The kids were all going to go on a ski trip to Telluride, Colorado beginning today. Well...Sloane has fever again so the trip has been cancelled. The doctors have run every test they can think of for her symptoms...nothing. I'm thinking there's a low grade infection in her ear. They say there is redness in her right ear... :O(
But they won't prescribe anything...she has medicated ear drops that should take care of it...!!! Well it hasn't yet!
Send prayer I don't over-step my boundaries and call that da#n doctor's office!
UPDATE: 2/22 - It Was Her Ear!
Anyhow...It's our SIL's birthday on the 26th. I made a Strawberry Mousse cake, thinking they'd be here this afternoon to drop off their dog, Bo, so Larry and I could take care of him while everyone's on the ski trip...not happening...and a mousse cake doesn't keep over about four or so days...I doubled the recipe and made two...one for us and one for Tim...Now, they're not coming...Gotta' think of someone to give Tim's to...Guess our friend, Henry, will be the lucky winner.
I made hamburger buns to go with the pulled pork I made. Worked out great...I used my bread machine for the kneading...then shaped the dough into buns.
They turned out really good!
Can someone tell me what the heck this is? Found it on the internet. Never seen anything like it around here. Alien?
It's also Samantha's birthday on the 23rd. She wanted a Lambeth cake. They seem to be the upcoming thing these days. So I did my best to decorate the strawberry cake. It was work I must say and not something I would look forward to doing again in my small kitchen. But you do for your babies, if you can. She loved it.
I also made a spinach, tomato and cheese quiche for breakfast on Tuesday...seriously good!

Okay! Tell me what's creepy about the above photo!! There are two things...Do you see them??
We picked Sloane up from daycare because of her fever...breaks your heart when they are sick!
It was 79F (about 26C) here yesterday. After about noon, Sloane was feeling a lot better, no fever. But this morning our daughter Crystal, called to tell us she had fever and the ski trip was cancelled.
I got to open the windows...it was so nice and Sloane really enjoyed herself. (It was warm or I'd never have opened the windows).
Well, guess I'll go get breakfast going. Hope you all are staying well, warm or cool, wherever you are.

Forget the cakes! I want that quiche. I hope Sloane gets to feeling better very soon. OK I see that the comatose man has too many hands, and it's snowing in the house, but it won't matter for long because the Christmas tree is about to catch on fire, hahaa xoxo

aahh, poor baby Sloane. I just said a prayer for her. I do hope they get some answers and the right care and treatment for her. I'm so sorry to hear this, and understand grandma's feelings completely. Samantha's cake is fabulous! And those pulled pork sandwiches look delicious. The veggie quiche looks amazing too. I love asparagus quiche and used to get a slice at a little cafe in my hometown. Yes, I see the creepy things in that picture, what's that all about? If you find out, let us know haha. So glad the weather warmed up a bit for Sloane. What a sweet picture of her by the window.

I sure wish we had temps like that. I'm so tired of being cold.
On that picture the guy has 2 right hands and it looks like extra fingers or something on his left hand.
I am always so impressed with people who make their own hamburger buns. This is something that I have not tried, and probably won't because I have bread yeast fear. :-) Your quiche looks magnificent!

Poor Sloane, hope she comes right as in health. The cake is wonderful and Happy Birthday to the birthday girl tomorrow the 23rd (time difference).

Awww poor baby Sloane. Painful ears are a real problem and Grandma certainly knew the answer. Hope they can clear things up. So sad the trip was cancelled too.

That picture is really creepy AI...The guy looks dead and has 3 hands and looks like an extra finger on his left hand..His sweater is 2 different colors and maybe as someone said it's snowing in the house with those candles burning in the tree...I do love the character lines in the woman's face and hand though.
We have some clear, blue skies today..so nice to have a break in the rain.

Poor Sloane! Poor family who has to see her sick so often! It's hard because I think they don't want to prescribe antibiotics too often these days. I hope she outgrows this soon.

Lambeth cakes look like a lot of work and I think I'd find that the amount of icing on one of those would be too sweet. The quiche looks delicious.
I'm sorry poor little Sloane was sick. I hope her earache clears up now that the doctor has found the reason for her fever ( and prescribed meds).

First, I always enjoy your photos of adorable Sloane, but poor sweety having an ear infection. I see I am three days on from when you posted, so praying she is feeling much better. Happy birthday to your SIL for tomorrow. That strawberry mousse cake looks delicious! I’m sure Henry will enjoy his. And wow on Samantha’s cake, it looks like a work of art. You always make the best looking dishes. I would just love to have a slice of your spinach, tomato and cheese quiche. Those rolls look great! I need to get over being intimidated with making rolls and just make some. Nothing like fresh baked is there? As for that interesting looking creature, I hope it’s fake! Wouldn’t want to wake up and see that staring back at me, lol! As for the couple sleeping, at first I thought what a lovely photo and then I saw the extra hand and maybe extra fingers on the other side, and legs sticking through the blanket??? We’re going to get weather in the mid 60’s tomorrow and I am shouting woo-hoo a heat wave, lol! Hoping dear little Sloane recovers quickly. So hard to explain to the little ones why they are hurting. The cake is masterpiece and looks delicious. I am so slapdash when it comes to food, I cook good wholesome meals and bake regularly but presentation is definitely lacking. Odd as I am really neat and tidy person, must be my lack of patience.
Homemade buns would make a sandwich amazing.
