Very nice tribute. My stepdad, a retired full colonel in the Infantry, served three tours in VietNam. I am from Ft. Benning, GA, myself, so I grew up around the military and always get a lump in my throat when I'm at the airport and see so many young men and women being deployed. Like you, I pray that God keeps them safe and returns them to their families.
Carmen..Vietnam...horrible place.
Bless him and others Like him...

Your mom and dad were a beautiful couple. I think I see you in your mom, Donna.
We have the same type background as my dad was serving in the Navy at the same time yours was.
God bless all the men and women in uniform. ((((hugs))))
What a wonderful tribute to your father, and your mother... the sacrifices of wives and mothers are sometimes forgotten. That is a beautiful photo of them! It's thanks to men like your dad that we live in freedom!
Blessings!

Thank God for true American heroes like your dad ... and your mom! And you too, for we know that the entire family of any member of the military truly serves their country along with the one or ones who took the oath.

God bless you dad for serving and sacrificing for his country. He had to have been stunned to hear the news about Pearl Harbor.
My dad was part of the first wave of troops that went in after the bomb blasts in Japan. He never, ever spoke about any of his service. I think the memories haunted him until the day he died.
Wonderful tribute to an American hero! It is because of men and women like your dad that my family and I are able to life the American dream. May you and yours have a wonderful Memorial Day.
Bless your Dad. Very nice momentos you have of your Dad's. One day you will be able to pass them down to Crystal. Have a blessed Memorial Day ! *HUGS*

I meant to say earlier and I forgot ... your mother was a very beautiful woman and your father a charmingly handsome man! I love the picture of them with their happiness shining in their eyes and writ so large on their faces.
The picture reminds me of a book I once read entitled "Good Night Officially" which is comprised of the letters of a Navy man back home to his wife during WWII. He didn't make it home. The letters are precious. I'll put a link to it in the sidebar of my web site in case you're interested.
Also I cracked up at your dad's "Domain of Neptunus Rex" certificate, signed by Davey Jones! Very cute.
Thanks again for sharing!
Beautiful tribute Donna! My father was in the Navy at that time too.
Wouldn't it be great if we lived in a place that never had wars and never had to send anyone off to fight in them...
that's just somethin else Donna. imagine how he felt to be the first to hear that news. and then to have to relay it to all the right people in so short a time. radiomen always got a bad rap when i was in -- reading this - makes me really wonder why. behind the scenes i guess. alot of my active service was peacetime- other than desert storm - but again - never heard much about what 'they did'.
i'm blabbing , again. you're a daughter of a wonderful man, and a hero. God bless him, and you-
i love the pics - wondering, if you display them somehow- or if they live in a box??
have a good day-
hugs from a scatterbrained soul :))
What a beautiful tribute.
