Sick Computer Goes to the Doctor

Well my HP laptop is sick...Back after I first got it, a registry cleaner, that was Not compatible with Windows Vista Home Premium, was loaded and run by my beloved Hubby. He said.."Gee! You've got 485 problems on you laptop"!!!....It cleaned them...and took a bunch of stuff off of Vista that needed to stay where it was. SO, In my futile attempt to restore them, I saved the restore to D DRIVE!!! That's a no-no. Do Not save anything to D drive. Oh well, computer Guru, I'm not. So, I've been forced to commit it to the Computer Hospital for surgery. Doctor C. Geek does not know if it can be saved. He will try very hard to do so. I still have my old stand-by here at work and at home. Do not fret. I shall still be able to check up on you all! Try to have a happy day...and I'll check on you all tonight!!!
PS- This is what you get when a Plumber tries to work on a computer! Not a pretty sight!! LOL

Ouch! I've learned a lot about working on computers, but one thing I've learned is that I don't know enough to fool around with the registry. Some people do, but I don't. So I stay away from that part!

Jazzi- There are wonderful Cleaners out there for your computer...in fact they keep everything corrected in the registry so your computer doesn't crash. You Should have a cleaner BUT it must be compatible with your software!! This one Hubby cleaned with, wasn't! What a headache...Have a peaceful evening sweetie!

A number of people have problems with Vista. I don't think it's the OS itself but the compatibility factor. Apparently there's quite a bit a older hardware that won't work with Vista -- mostly because the software has to be updated and not all companies are willing to go back a long way to do that.

Anvilcloud- Absolutely correct!! I love Vista!! It's wonderful, but you DO have to be careful what you download! LOL Just ask Me!!

If there's one thing I hate worse than car trouble, it's computer trouble. Hope everything works out ok.

Annie- Thanks sweetie!! I haven't heard from Dr. Geek yet, but hoping it'll be good news!

I've only delved into Vista once and I was not impressed with all the bells and whistles that take up so much of the RAM (even more than MOST new computers come with unless you specifically get RAM upgrades at the time of purchase, for extra money). You need at least 2 or more Gigs of RAM to operate all of Vistas stuff.

I'm considering a new desktop in the Spring, maybe, but I'm hoping I can get one with XP and not Vista.

I hate computer issues and I bet you miss your laptop. I use mine more than my big one but if something happened to either one I would be out of luck. Hope it's fixed soon. Oh and I like that photo with this post. LOL
