Sunday is Gumbo Day

Gumbo Day has arrived! We love it for a winter's day meal. Chicken, shrimp and sausage gumbo. Nothing better. It is really a "do nothing" day around here. Got some shots of the morning routine...Crystal...blogging, William playing the XBox, Hubby out shopping for a new floor lamp and Samantha...in her regular Room...bathroom, polishing, creaming...looking, and generally spending lots of time doing...something. Whatever twelve year olds Do in there. It's a mystery, even to me! LOL SO, until later. If anything new happens, I'll let you in on it!! Have a fun and happy day today!

Hi Donna, I think your warm winds wishes worked, we've had a beautiful warm(ish) day here. The rabbit was so happy outside she stretched out on the grass instead of huddling. I dried two loads of laundry on the line, amazing! The gumbo sounds interesting. Thanks for untangling my head about your family. I was getting very confused.

Joan- It really was. The temp might have gotten to 67 or 68degrees here. That also made it a nicer day. Blowing those warm winds up to you Girl! Have a nice night!

Okay now, you can't brag about the gumbo and not give us the recipe!!
I love a good gumbo but haven't tried to make it yet.
I have split pea soup in the crockpot for tomorrow's dinner.

Lynn- It begins with a Roux(flour & oil- 1 cup to 1 cup) stirred till it's a chocolate brown color. Then add diced onion, bell pepper and celery. About 4 cups total of vegetables. Sizzle this thick mixture till the veggies are a little "limp". Add Chicken, sausage, shrimp (as much as you desire) Then add enough water till it's a soup consistancy. You simmer this for about 30 or so minutes and serve over cooked rice. Thats pretty much it. Super easy!!
Also, I'm adding your name to the "tagged" game!...I should have gone ahead and added everyone on my roll at the beginning because I keep adding to it!!LOLOL
Have a fun night Sweetie!!
