Going, Going, Gone...

Well, today was the day that "she" had to come down! It's an absolutely beautiful day here. 78* as we speak!! Tomorrow it should be the same. So, In the living room, I dragged my feet to the tree and we started the "undressing" ceremony...pitiful. I miss it already. Everything went back into it's boxes, wrapped and petted, and now, all put away. Told Hubby not to put the tree back into storage. It's limping and a bit broken so it'll be a new one for us next year. We had this one for over five years and it's brought it's magic but it's time for a new one. The tree I had before this one, we kept it for fifteen years. It was an eight footer and I had hand wrapped each branch with lights. Took almost three days to do it, even with some help from my sister, Ruth Ann. But it was SO worth it. It was beautiful. I only used Silvestri Lights on it because they last for years. I never dreamed they'd last longer than the tree did!! Oh well, I'm already plotting for next year.

It was so warm here, the Granbabies asked for lemonade! They'd been out riding their bikes so when they hit the kitchen it was, "Can you make lemonade Gamma"? I did.....what a face!
Anyway, after all that, it was time to clean, dust, etc. Hubby made some gumbo soup which hit the spot.
Well guess I'll let you get on with whatever you were doing before I interrupted your day. I understand a bunch of you are ill!!! Sending much love, happiness and healing your way!!!
Here's another useless tidbit for you to ponder:
Disney cleaned up the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs for his feature cartoon. In the original Grimm Brothers fairytale the queen was condemned to dance in red-hot iron shoes until she died. Disney had her fall off a precipice to her death.

You guys have been busy! Cute pictures, cute kids but now my mouth is all twitching thinking about lemons.

Gumbo - haven't had that since my mom passed away. That was one of her most favorite things. Does hubs put okra in it? Is it crab gumbo? Does he put rice in it? Does Crystal like okra? :)

I did really well today with my veggie's; made soup and it was sooo good. Now, in the oven banana nut muffins made with real bananas and fresh from the shell, pecans. I know, I know, but sheesh, there are zero, zilch carbs. Really.

Have a great evening!!

Miss Sally- No, we don't put the okra in it. Usually it's chicken, sausage and shrimp. Okra takes a little longer because you need to cook it seperately to get that slime out first. But it is good if it's added. Are you feeling better?? I saw where Dawn is feeling bad to!! Here's sending you lots a love and a good dose 'a healing sweetie!!! hughug

Sally-PS- Crystal will eat okra if she doesn't know what she's eating!! LOL And I almost had to turn my head while taking Sami's picture biting that lemon!! :<>

MMWWWHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Did I mention that even though mom and dad are on the Stella Diet (way of life) thingy...I've been on it ALL of last year?? What does that mean you ask??? HHmmmmm? My 2 weeks of eating the basics are OVER!!! I can now cheat...(rubs hands together while licking her lips) OH! (with an evil grin on thy face...can't forget that)LOL!

Okra...(gags even thinking of the little green slime balls)

What mom thinks and what I KNOW are two different things....When I was growing up the dog ate it! Guess he really DID like those little slugs!

Poor little tree, she'll miss you too! Will you donate her to a classroom or give her away?

Our Zach loves gumbo, I guess I really should make it oftener than I do.

I've been cooking up a storm the past two days (roast chicken and veggies, a big pot of neck bones cooked with taters and onions) so today I think they will forage, maybe. :-)

Brenda- Alas sweetheart, the treetop is broken and she leans so unless one of the workers at the shop want her, she'll be recycled. She served us well! lol
Gads, tater and onions Sound So Good!!! One of my favorites is Liver with sauted onions...(feeling faint) lol
Have Fun today girl!!

Your tree was so pretty this year. But, I am sure that next years will be just as pretty or even more.

I haven't had gumbo in a long time. Sounds yummy. Have a great day, today !

We still have some touches of Christmas/winter around, but the [small] tree is down. It's good to let go gradually though. Meanwhile, it's going up to 37F here today and may hit 53F on Tuesday.

Anvilcloud- WhooHoo! Warmth at last!! lol Yes, it's hard to "let go"...I'm the worlds worst...but now i can start planning for next December...I'm one of those "plot and plan" people! lol Trees budding out yet?? lol
